As a fellow attorney, I wish to formally acknowledge and review the legal services provided by Jaffe, Hanle, Whisonant, & Knight, P.C., with particular reference to the legal representation by Richard Jaffe and Michael Whisonant in a serious criminal case involving a relative who was faced with State and Federal criminal charges, and facing a potential life sentence without parole.
Being an attorney from out of state and unfamiliar with criminal defense attorneys in Alabama, I was referred to JHWK. After an initial consultation with Mr. Jaffe, I engaged the firm to represent my relative. This decision turnout to be one of the best decisions I ever made personally and professionally. I had significant concerns regarding the possibility of my relative serving a life sentence without parole and doubted whether any counsel could mitigate his circumstances. However, Mr. Jaffe and Mr. Whisonant’s astuteness and determination, and exceptional legal acumen throughout the proceedings, led to an astonishing outcome. At the sentencing hearing, their efforts resulted in a reduction from “life without the possibility of parole” to “time served,” an outcome which exceeded my expectations.

The representation you retain is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. I recently, within the last few years, had a relative who had a criminal charge. I’ve known Michael for quite a long time. I served 25-years as a federal probation officer, while he served as a criminal defense attorney.
