The Art and Science of Cross Examination
Please join us for the White Collar Committee's fourth CLE event in 2018. This program will feature a panel of practitioners with over 130 years of combined experience trying white collar criminal matters. Between them, Brett Bloomston, Richard Jaffe, David McKnight and Jim Parkman have tried hundreds of cases and cross examined thousands of witnesses. They utilize a wide range of approaches to formulating and carrying out cross examinations, and offer varying perspectives on what works (and, perhaps more importantly, what doesn't). They will discuss the techniques which maximize the impact of cross examination, and the steps nexessary to employ them successfully. This conversation will include suggestions for dealing with recalcitrant and deceitful witnesses, as well as methods designed to extract helpful information from those less hostile. Throughout the discussion, the panelists will share stories of the most memorable cross examinations as a means of providing greater insight into the process. Practitioners of all levels of experience will benefit from this presentation.
